Amiri Regular

Amiri Regular is a classical Arabic typeface in the Naskh style, specifically designed for typesetting books and extended running text. It serves as a meticulous revival of the historic typeface pioneered by the Bulaq Press in Cairo, known as al-Matba’ah al-Amiriyyah, which set the standard for Arabic printing and Quranic typesetting in the early 20th century.

The font project is led by Khaled Hosny and focuses on bridging the gap between traditional calligraphic elegance and modern digital requirements. It is an open-source typeface that includes extensive support for the Arabic script and its various nuances, utilizing OpenType features to ensure fluid and authentic character connections suitable for both high-end print and digital screen displays.
