Apple Garamond Italic

Apple Garamond is a customized version of the ITC Garamond typeface, specifically adapted for Apple Computer's corporate identity in the mid-1980s. While the original typeface was designed by Tony Stan in 1977, Apple commissioned a condensed variant to optimize space on their packaging and marketing materials. This italic version maintains the distinct high-x-height and elegant strokes of the family but with a noticeably narrower profile that became synonymous with the "Think Different" campaign and the early Macintosh era.

The Apple Garamond Italic weight offers a sophisticated, calligraphic aesthetic that balances traditional serif values with a modern, technical precision. For decades, it served as the cornerstone of Apple's brand voice, appearing on everything from product manuals to keynote slides. Although Apple eventually transitioned to Myriad and later San Francisco, Apple Garamond Italic remains a cherished historical font for designers looking to evoke vintage tech nostalgia and classic editorial elegance.
