Apple Garamond Light Italic

Apple Garamond Light Italic is a refined and condensed adaptation of the classic Garamond typeface, commissioned by Apple Computer in the early 1980s. While its roots trace back to the 16th-century designs of Claude Garamond, this specific iteration was customized by the foundry Bitstream to serve as the core of Apple's corporate identity. It characterized the brand's aesthetic for over two decades, most famously appearing in the iconic 'Think Different' advertising campaign.

The Light Italic weight is distinguished by its narrow proportions and elegant, slanted strokes that offer a sophisticated and high-end feel. Unlike standard Garamond revivals, the Apple version features a unique x-height and tighter tracking, making it exceptionally well-suited for premium branding and editorial layouts where a sense of history and technological precision must coexist.
