Apple Garamond Regular

Apple Garamond Regular served as the cornerstone of Apple Computer's corporate identity from 1984 through 2002. Developed as a modified version of ITC Garamond, this typeface was specifically condensed by approximately 20% to accommodate more text within marketing materials and technical manuals. It became iconic through the legendary 'Think Different' campaign, where its sophisticated serifs and narrow profile represented a unique intersection of classical typography and modern technology.

Structurally, the font features a high x-height and the distinctive, elegant contrast typical of 16th-century French Renaissance types, though it was adapted for 20th-century screen and print needs. While based on the legacy of Claude Garamond, its tighter proportions gave Apple's brand a distinct 'voice' that felt both literary and efficient. In the early 2000s, Apple eventually transitioned to Myriad for its branding, making Apple Garamond a nostalgic favorite for designers focusing on vintage tech aesthetics.
