Authority Regular

Authority Regular is a powerful and versatile sans-serif typeface designed by Ben Jones, drawing significant inspiration from the utilitarian and industrial public transportation signage used throughout New York and other major metropolitan areas during the 1970s. This font captures a specific era of design that prioritizes raw functionality and bold visibility, resulting in a typeface that feels both authoritative and approachable. Its design language bridges the gap between mid-century modernism and contemporary digital aesthetics.

Constructed with a robust framework and clean, geometric lines, Authority Regular features a generous x-height and wide open apertures to ensure exceptional legibility across various mediums. Whether utilized for large-scale environmental graphics or intricate digital interfaces, the font maintains its distinct character and industrial charm. It is particularly effective for designers seeking to evoke a sense of retro-cool nostalgia while maintaining a sophisticated, modern edge in their creative layouts.
