Baltica Bold

Baltica Bold is a robust slab serif typeface originally developed between 1951 and 1952 at the Polygraphmash type foundry. Designed by Vera Chiminova and Isay Slutsker, it was created as a versatile display face characterized by its wide proportions and sturdy, square serifs. The design draws heavy inspiration from earlier slab serifs like Candida, offering a balance between industrial strength and high-quality legibility that makes it suitable for a variety of print applications.

The Bold weight of Baltica emphasizes the font's authoritative presence, making it an excellent choice for impactful headlines and editorial design. Over the decades, it has been digitized and refined by ParaType, maintaining its status as a staple in graphic design for those seeking a font that conveys stability and tradition. Its clean lines and distinct geometric structure ensure that it remains effective in both modern digital environments and traditional offset printing.
