Brastika Black Regular

Brastika Black Regular is a contemporary display serif that draws heavy inspiration from the resurgence of 1970s editorial typography blended with modern digital aesthetics. Developed to meet the needs of the 'new-age' serif trend, it focuses on expressive letterforms that prioritize personality over utilitarianism. Its origin lies in the desire for a typeface that bridges the gap between classic elegance and bold, liquid-like fluidity, making it a staple for designers looking to imbue a sense of luxury and avant-garde style into their layouts.

Technical analysis of the Black Regular weight reveals an aggressive stroke contrast, where the thick vertical stems meet razor-thin horizontals and hairlines. The x-height is notably large, which anchors the font to the baseline and maintains surprising legibility even with its dramatic flourishes. The terminals are a mix of sharp points and soft, teardrop shapes, creating a rhythmic tension across the line. The oversized counters and tight apertures in this specific weight create a dense, powerful texture that is best utilized in large-scale display settings where the intricate joinery can be appreciated.
