Clarity City Black

Clarity City Black is a heavy-weight, geometric sans-serif typeface meticulously crafted by the VMware design team. Originally developed as a core component of the Clarity Design System, it was specifically engineered to provide maximum legibility and professional aesthetics in data-heavy user interfaces and enterprise-level software. The Black weight offers a powerful, authoritative presence that maintains the clean lines and balanced proportions characteristic of modern geometric design.

As an open-source font released under the SIL Open Font License, Clarity City has evolved beyond its corporate origins to become a favorite among web developers and graphic designers. Its design is heavily influenced by classic geometric fonts like Metropolis and Open Sans, yet it features unique adjustments to apertures and letter spacing that optimize it for high-resolution displays. The Black weight is particularly effective for high-contrast headers where clarity cannot be compromised, even in dense digital environments.
