D-DIN DIN-Italic

D-DIN DIN-Italic is a specialized typeface within the D-DIN family, which was commissioned by the technology company Datto to serve as their corporate identity font. It is a modernized and refined version of the DIN 1451 standard, a classic German design traditionally used for administrative, technical, and traffic applications. This italic variant introduces a dynamic slant to the rigid geometric structure of the original DIN, providing a sense of motion and emphasis while maintaining the high clarity and industrial precision that the font family is famous for.

The typeface was released under the SIL Open Font License, making it a highly accessible alternative to commercial DIN families. It features a generous x-height and clear, minimalist letterforms that excel in both digital and physical mediums. Because of its open-source nature and professional-grade quality, D-DIN DIN-Italic is widely utilized by designers for projects that require a technical, clean, and authoritative aesthetic without the burden of licensing fees.
