Datalegreya Dot

Datalegreya Dot is an innovative experimental typeface designed by Lazare Bender at the Figs design studio. It belongs to a unique class of fonts that function as data visualization tools, allowing users to embed numerical data directly into textual content. The typeface achieves this through the use of OpenType features, where a data line—in this specific version, represented by a series of dots—weaves through the characters to form a graph that maps out specific data points along a vertical axis without interrupting the legibility of the text.

This font is a prime example of information design at its most efficient, blending typography and data visualization into a single entity. The 'Dot' variant provides a lighter, more technical aesthetic than the original solid-line version, making it ideal for high-tech interfaces and dense information environments. It is widely used by designers who need to present complex statistics, such as stock fluctuations or climate trends, within the narrative flow of a report or website, effectively saving space while enhancing the reader's understanding.
