david Normal

David Normal is a foundational serif typeface designed by the renowned graphic artist and calligrapher Ismar David between 1932 and 1954. Originally conceived to modernize the Hebrew script, it departed from the heavy, traditional square-style characters of the time to offer a lighter, more calligraphic aesthetic. It remains one of the most recognizable and widely utilized Hebrew fonts in the world today.

The typeface gained significant global exposure when it was digitized and bundled with the Microsoft Windows operating system. Its clean lines and balanced proportions make it the industry standard for academic writing, legal documentation, and formal literature in Israel. The design bridges the gap between ancient tradition and modern legibility, ensuring it remains a staple in both print and digital media.
