Discharge Normal

Discharge Normal is a classic display typeface designed by Samuel Park and originally released through the T-26 Digital Type Foundry. Emerging during the mid-1990s, this font was a pivotal part of the grunge typography movement, drawing heavy inspiration from the DIY punk rock subculture and the gritty, distorted appearance of photocopied fanzines. Its design mimics the raw energy of ink bleeding on paper, resulting in heavy, distressed letterforms that command attention.

As a prominent industrial-style font, Discharge Normal is characterized by its high-contrast strokes and intentional imperfections. These features make it an excellent choice for projects requiring a sense of urgency, rebellion, or street-level authenticity. While it prioritizes impact over legibility in long-form text, it has remained a favorite among graphic designers for over two decades for its ability to inject a tactile, humanistic feel into digital layouts.
