Druk Wide Bold Regular

Druk Wide Bold Regular was designed by Berton Hasebe and released through Commercial Type in 2014. Originally commissioned for Bloomberg Businessweek, the Druk family was inspired by the expressive typography found in 1930s German posters and the work of Dutch designer Willem Sandberg. Unlike traditional type families that offer a balanced range of weights, Druk was created to explore the limits of extreme widths and weights, focusing on maximum impact over conventional versatility.

The Wide collection specifically emphasizes horizontal expansion, providing a powerful, architectural presence on the page. Druk Wide Bold Regular avoids the typical "square" look of many wide sans serifs, instead opting for a raw, heavy-duty aesthetic. It has since become a foundational tool for contemporary editorial design, high-fashion branding, and any visual communication that requires a bold, uncompromising typographic voice.
