Dunkin Bold

Dunkin Bold (part of the Dunkin' Sans family) was unveiled during the 2019 rebranding of the iconic American coffee and donut chain. Developed by the design agency Jones Knowles Ritchie in collaboration with Colophon Foundry, the font was created to modernize the brand's image while retaining its playful and energetic spirit. It captures the essence of the original 1970s Frankfurter-inspired lettering but optimizes it for digital and physical clarity across global markets.

The typeface is characterized by its heavy, rounded forms and chunky weight, which convey a sense of friendliness and approachability. Because of its massive visual weight and soft edges, it has become a staple for high-impact advertising and food industry branding. The bold geometry ensures that the text remains legible even in busy environmental signage and small-scale product packaging, making it a masterpiece of functional corporate identity.
