Dutch801 XBd BT Extra Bold

Dutch 801 XBd BT Extra Bold is a highly versatile serif typeface that belongs to the Bitstream library, serving as a digital interpretation of the classic Times New Roman design. This specific variant, the Extra Bold, is characterized by its significant stroke weight and high contrast, providing an authoritative and commanding presence on the page. It retains the refined transitional serif characteristics of the original, including sharp serifs and a vertical axis, making it a staple for traditional typography.

Historically, the Dutch 801 family was developed to provide high-quality, space-efficient type for professional publishing. The Extra Bold weight is particularly effective for heavy-duty display work, such as newspaper mastheads, book titles, and editorial headlines. Its compact proportions and extreme legibility at large sizes make it a preferred choice for designers who need to convey a sense of heritage, reliability, and formal strength in their visual communication.
