Freight Regular

Freight Regular is a cornerstone of the expansive Freight superfamily, designed by Joshua Darden and originally released in 2005 through GarageFonts, later becoming a marquee offering of Darden Studio. The typeface was conceived as a versatile, high-performance serif that draws inspiration from 18th-century Dutch and English models, such as those of Nicholas Kis. Its design philosophy centers on balancing traditional warmth with a sharp, contemporary clarity, making it a favorite among professional typographers for complex information hierarchies.

Characterized by its Transitional serif traits, Freight Regular features open counters, a generous x-height, and robust serifs that ensure exceptional legibility across various media. Unlike its Display counterparts, the Regular weight is optimized for body text, providing a steady rhythm and sophisticated texture on the page. Its ability to remain legible in small sizes while maintaining an elegant personality at larger sizes has secured its place as a go-to font for editorial design, high-end branding, and scholarly publishing.
