Geograph Bold Italic

Geograph Bold Italic is a bespoke geometric sans-serif typeface originally commissioned for National Geographic. Designed by the acclaimed Kris Sowersby of the Klim Type Foundry, this typeface was crafted to replace their previous brand fonts with a more modern, global, and versatile aesthetic. It draws inspiration from the classic geometric traditions of the early 20th century while incorporating contemporary refinements that ensure exceptional clarity in both high-resolution print and digital environments.

The Bold Italic weight is specifically engineered to provide a dynamic contrast to the regular and bold upright styles. It maintains the rigid geometric foundations of the family—such as the circular 'o' and sharp 'M'—while introducing a sophisticated slant that conveys motion and urgency. This makes it an indispensable tool for editorial designers and brand strategists looking to inject personality and emphasis into professional layouts without sacrificing legibility or authority.
