Geograph Edit Black Bold Italic

Geograph Edit Black Bold Italic is a high-performance geometric sans-serif typeface designed by Kris Sowersby. Originally commissioned as a proprietary typeface for National Geographic, the family was crafted to replace their legacy fonts with a more modern, versatile, and legible aesthetic. The 'Edit' version refers to specific adjustments made for editorial precision, while the Black Bold Italic weight offers the most extreme visual weight and dynamic slant within the collection.

This typeface balances the strict geometry of early 20th-century classics like Futura with contemporary humanist refinements. Its construction features nearly perfect circular forms contrasted by sharp, clean terminals, making it exceptionally clear even at large display sizes. The heavy italic variation is particularly renowned for its sense of momentum and authority, making it a staple for premium branding and high-impact editorial storytelling.
