Gill Sans Nova Medium Italic

Gill Sans Nova Medium Italic is a refined and expanded iteration of the legendary Gill Sans typeface originally designed by Eric Gill in 1928. Launched in 2015 as part of the Monotype Library, the Nova series was spearheaded by George Ryan to address the needs of modern digital publishing. This specific Medium Italic weight retains the characteristic humanist shapes and the distinct "British modernist" aesthetic while providing a weight that is versatile enough for both subheadings and emphasized body text.

Unlike the standard digital versions of the past, the Nova expansion includes a much broader range of characters and OpenType features. The Medium Italic style is particularly celebrated for its calligraphic roots, showcasing fluid strokes that contrast beautifully with the more rigid geometric sans-serifs of the same era. It remains a definitive choice for designers looking to convey authority, elegance, and clarity in a contemporary format.
