Gill Sans Nova Medium Regular

Gill Sans Nova Medium Regular is a refined evolution of the iconic Gill Sans typeface, which was originally created by the British artist and typographer Eric Gill in 1928. Drawing inspiration from the Johnston Sans used for the London Underground, Gill Sans was designed to bridge the gap between geometric abstraction and traditional humanistic proportions. It quickly became the 'Helvetica of England,' representing a peak of British modernism across public transport, publishing, and broadcasting.

The Nova version, released by Monotype in 2015, modernized the family by adding character sets and refining the weights for digital use. The Medium Regular weight is particularly prized for its versatility, offering a slightly heavier presence than the standard regular weight while maintaining the open counters and humanist warmth that characterize the series. It remains a staple for designers looking for a typeface that feels both historical and contemporary simultaneously.
