GillSansNova-ExtraCondBold ☞

Gill Sans Nova is a significant expansion of the iconic original Gill Sans typeface, which was originally designed by the legendary Eric Gill in the late 1920s. This specific weight, ExtraCondBold, was meticulously refined by George Ryan for Monotype to provide a modern, highly compressed version of the classic humanist sans-serif. It successfully retains the distinct 'British' character and humanist proportions of the original while offering extreme verticality and strength for contemporary design requirements where space is at a premium.

The Nova iteration re-examines historical archives to incorporate characters and weights that were previously unavailable in standard digital formats. This extra condensed bold version is particularly suited for high-impact display work, featuring sharp terminals and balanced proportions that make it a favorite for editorial design, high-end branding, and sophisticated advertising. It bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and digital versatility, ensuring the legacy of the original design remains relevant in the 21st century.
