Gotham Extra Light Regular

Gotham Extra Light Regular is a masterclass in geometric precision, designed by the renowned Tobias Frere-Jones in the early 2000s. Originally commissioned for GQ magazine, the typeface was inspired by the utilitarian architectural signage found throughout New York City, particularly the mid-century lettering at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. This specific weight offers a delicate, ethereal touch to the robust Gotham family, maintaining its signature honest and authoritative tone while adding a layer of contemporary elegance.

The Extra Light variant is characterized by its clean lines and generous apertures, making it a favorite for designers who prioritize white space and minimalist aesthetics. It retains the foundational geometric structure of the original Gotham series but strips away the weight to reveal a skeleton that is both modern and timeless. Its versatility allows it to bridge the gap between industrial grit and high-fashion sophistication, making it an indispensable tool in modern graphic design.
