Gotham Narrow Medium Italic

Gotham Narrow Medium Italic is a sophisticated extension of the iconic Gotham family, originally commissioned by GQ magazine and inspired by the architectural and vernacular signage of mid-century New York City. Designed by Tobias Frere-Jones, the Narrow variant was developed to provide a space-saving alternative to the original width without sacrificing the font's characteristic geometric integrity or authoritative voice. It maintains the honest, muscular aesthetic that has made Gotham a staple in modern graphic design.

The Medium Italic weight offers a perfect balance between visibility and elegance, introducing a dynamic slant that conveys movement and emphasis. It is particularly effective in professional environments where clarity and a contemporary corporate tone are required. Because it is narrower than the standard Gotham, it allows designers to fit more copy into tight spaces, making it a favorite for editorial subheadlines, complex infographics, and responsive web interfaces.
