Gotham Rounded Bold Italic

Gotham Rounded Bold Italic is a friendly extension of the legendary Gotham family, which was originally commissioned by GQ magazine. Inspired by the no-nonsense architectural signage found throughout New York City—most notably the Port Authority Bus Terminal—the original Gotham was designed to be honest, modern, and distinctively American. The Rounded variation softens the sharp, geometric terminals of the original design, creating a warmer, more approachable aesthetic that maintains the family’s signature structural integrity.

The Bold Italic weight and style add a sense of dynamic energy and emphasis to the typeface. Released by the Hoefler & Co. foundry, this font has become a favorite for brands that want to appear contemporary and professional while remaining inviting. Its wide apertures and high x-height ensure that it remains legible in small digital interfaces as well as large-scale environmental graphics, bridging the gap between utilitarian signage and sophisticated corporate identity.
