Gotham XNarrow Medium Regular

Gotham XNarrow Medium Regular is an integral part of the larger Gotham typeface family, originally commissioned by GQ magazine and designed by Tobias Frere-Jones in 2000. Inspired by the architectural lettering and gritty, utilitarian signage of mid-century New York City—most notably the Port Authority Bus Terminal—the font translates the geometric spirit of the city into a sophisticated digital format. The XNarrow variant specifically addresses the challenges of limited horizontal space, providing a condensed profile without sacrificing the font's signature legibility or its authoritative, geometric foundations.

This medium weight serves as a versatile middle ground, offering enough visual weight for emphasis while remaining clear in dense text blocks. As a member of the Geometric Sans Serif category, it relies on fundamental shapes like circles and squares, but its narrow construction makes it an essential tool for modern editorial design and mobile interfaces. Its widespread adoption by political campaigns and global brands has cemented its status as one of the most recognizable and professional typefaces of the 21st century.
