ITC Benguiat Std Book Bold Italic

ITC Benguiat was designed by the legendary American typographer Ed Benguiat and released by the International Typeface Corporation (ITC) in 1978. The typeface is a hallmark of the Art Nouveau revival style, characterized by its unusually high x-height, high-waisted capital letters, and distinctive fluid strokes. This specific variant, Book Bold Italic, provides a heavy, slanted emphasis that maintains the font's decorative elegance while adding a layer of dynamic energy and visual weight to typographic layouts.

During the 1980s, the font became synonymous with pop culture, appearing on countless Stephen King book covers and later achieving a modern resurgence as the primary branding for the Netflix series Stranger Things. Its unique blend of mystery, vintage charm, and authoritative presence makes it a go-to choice for designers looking to evoke nostalgia or create a strong, illustrative typographic statement. The italicized bold weight is particularly effective for pull quotes and display titles that require a sense of urgency and style.
