ITC Benguiat Std Book Italic

ITC Benguiat Std Book Italic was designed by the legendary American typographer Ed Benguiat and released by the International Typeface Corporation in 1977. Heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, this typeface is characterized by its high x-height, dramatic flourishes, and unique organic letterforms. The Book Italic variant offers a lighter, more graceful touch compared to its bolder counterparts, providing a sophisticated rhythm that excels in both display and limited text settings.

Throughout its history, ITC Benguiat has achieved iconic status in popular culture, most notably through its association with the horror and mystery genres. It was famously used on the covers of many Stephen King novels and regained global prominence as the primary typeface for the Stranger Things title sequence. Its ability to evoke a sense of 1970s nostalgia while maintaining a timeless, eerie elegance makes it a versatile choice for designers aiming for a high-impact, atmospheric aesthetic.
