ITC Century Std Light Regular

ITC Century is a classic serif typeface family that evolved from the original Century face designed by Linn Boyd Benton in 1894 for The Century Magazine. The goal of the original design was to create a typeface that was more legible and darker than the thin-stroked types common during that era. This specific iteration, ITC Century Std Light, provides a refined and airier feel compared to its bolder counterparts, maintaining the signature high x-height and vertical stress that defines the Century lineage.

The ITC version was redrawn by Tony Stan in 1975 to harmonize the family for modern phototypesetting. It features generous proportions and open counters, making it an exceptional choice for continuous reading. The Light Regular weight is particularly prized in editorial design for its ability to convey a sense of authority and clarity without overwhelming the reader, making it a staple in book publishing, academic journals, and high-end corporate documentation.
