ITC Franklin Gothic Std Bk Cp Italic

ITC Franklin Gothic Std Bk Cp Italic is a refined iteration of one of the most significant American typefaces ever created. Originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1902 for American Type Founders, the family was later expanded by Vic Caruso for the International Typeface Corporation (ITC) in 1979. This specific variant, the Book Condensed Italic, combines the robust, industrial strength of the original design with a space-saving condensed width and a dynamic italic slant, offering a sophisticated balance of authority and elegance.

The typeface is characterized by its high x-height and distinctive double-story 'a' and 'g', which maintain legibility even in its condensed and slanted forms. As a staple of 20th-century typography, it has been used extensively in newspapers, advertisements, and corporate branding. The ITC Franklin Gothic Std family remains a go-to choice for designers seeking a timeless, versatile sans-serif that bridge the gap between classic industrial aesthetics and modern editorial requirements.
