ITC Franklin Gothic Std Bk Cp Regular is a contemporary expansion of the original Franklin Gothic typeface designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1902. In the late 1970s, the International Typeface Corporation (ITC) commissioned designer Victor Caruso to create a wider range of weights and widths to modernize the family. This specific 'Book Condensed' (Bk Cp) variant offers a refined, narrow profile that retains the powerful, bold presence of the classic American gothic style while improving its utility in cramped layouts.
Characterized by its high x-height and distinctive double-story 'a' and 'g', this typeface strikes a perfect balance between industrial strength and sophisticated legibility. The ITC version is widely recognized for its consistent stroke weights and versatile application in modern media. It remains a top choice for designers seeking a font that conveys authority, history, and clean geometric precision in both digital and print environments.
