ITC Galliard Bold

ITC Galliard Bold is a masterfully crafted typeface designed by the renowned Matthew Carter and released by the International Typeface Corporation in 1978. Drawing deep inspiration from the 16th-century work of Robert Granjon, specifically his "Gros-Cicéro" cut, Galliard captures the spirit and energy of the Renaissance while providing the clarity required for modern printing. Carter's adaptation emphasizes the distinct, sharp serifs and the rhythmic flow of the characters, making it one of the most widely respected serif typefaces in the history of typography.

The Bold weight of this family provides a commanding presence on the page, offering a rich texture and high contrast that excels in both display and text settings. It is frequently chosen by editorial designers and book publishers for its ability to convey authority and elegance simultaneously. Over the decades, ITC Galliard has remained a staple for high-end branding and academic publishing due to its perfect synthesis of historical authenticity and contemporary functionalism.
