Iwona Light Italic is an alternative version of the Kurier typeface, meticulously crafted by the esteemed Polish designer Janusz Marian Nowacki. Originally designed for the GUST (TeX Users Group in Poland), the typeface was named in honor of the designer's wife, Iwona. It is a humanistic sans-serif that was engineered specifically for clarity in technical, scientific, and mathematical typesetting, where legibility of complex characters is paramount.

The Light Italic weight of the Iwona family provides a sophisticated and slender profile, offering a graceful slant that distinguishes it from standard sans-serifs. Its design is characterized by open apertures and a balanced stroke weight, making it highly effective for both digital screens and high-resolution print. Over the years, it has become a staple in the LaTeX community due to its comprehensive support for mathematical notations and its clean, professional aesthetic.
