Lawyer Gothic Bold

Lawyer Gothic Bold is a classic sans-serif typeface originally designed by the prolific Morris Fuller Benton in 1935 for the American Type Founders (ATF). This font was developed as a variation of the popular Copperplate Gothic style but stripped of its characteristic tiny serifs to create a cleaner, more modern appearance while maintaining its professional and authoritative stature. The bold weight specifically provides a robust and architectural feel that has made it a favorite in the legal and financial industries for decades.

Historically, the typeface was crafted to meet the needs of high-end stationery and professional engraving, where clarity and a sense of institutional reliability were paramount. The wide proportions and consistent stroke thickness of Lawyer Gothic Bold ensure that it commands attention without appearing overly aggressive. It remains a timeless choice for designers who wish to evoke a sense of tradition, trust, and mid-century sophistication in their typographic layouts.
