Martina Plantijn Bold

Martina Plantijn Bold is a sophisticated serif typeface designed by Kris Sowersby of the Klim Type Foundry. Released as a contemporary revival, it draws its inspiration directly from the historical specimens found at the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp. Specifically, it references the works of Robert Granjon, aiming to capture the original vitality and sturdy proportions of 16th-century French type that were somewhat lost in later 20th-century adaptations like the Monotype Plantin series.

The Bold weight of Martina Plantijn is characterized by its robust stroke thickness and sharp, elegant serifs, making it exceptionally functional for modern editorial environments. It balances high-contrast aesthetics with practical legibility, ensuring that it remains legible in both digital and print formats. This typeface is often celebrated for its "dark" color on the page, providing a sense of authority and timelessness to any typographic composition.
