Monotype Sabon Bold Italic

Monotype Sabon Bold Italic is a distinguished old-style serif typeface designed by the legendary typographer Jan Tschichold. Released in 1967, Sabon was a unique collaborative commission by a group of German printers who required a typeface that would look identical whether set by hand, on a Monotype machine, or on a Linotype machine. It is based on the classical designs of the 16th-century engraver Claude Garamond, specifically a specimen printed by Konrad Berner, resulting in one of the most elegant and functional revivals in typographic history.

The Bold Italic variant provides a harmonious contrast to the Roman weights, featuring a fluid, calligraphic quality that retains the structural integrity and legibility of the family. Sabon is widely regarded as one of the best fonts for book design and long-form reading because of its balanced proportions and lack of distracting features. Its timeless aesthetic continues to be a top choice for professional publishers and designers who prioritize tradition and clarity in their typographic work.
