Neue Plak Extended

Neue Plak Extended is a masterfully crafted revival and expansion of Paul Renner's original 1928 wood type design, Plak. Developed by the Monotype team, specifically Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari, this typeface breathes new life into the modernist aesthetics of the early 20th century. The extended variant is part of a massive 60-weight family that translates the quirky, high-impact personality of the original wood blocks into a highly flexible digital toolset suitable for the most demanding contemporary design environments.

Characterized by its unique blend of grotesque and geometric influences, Neue Plak Extended excels in space-hungry layouts where a sense of authority and modernity is required. By expanding the proportions, the designers have created a font that feels both architectural and expansive. It retains the signature large x-height and open counters of Renner's work while adding the necessary refinements for high-resolution screens and professional print production, making it a favorite for global branding initiatives.
