Neue Plak Text Italic

Neue Plak Text Italic is a sophisticated revival and expansion of the 1928 wood type typeface, Plak, originally designed by Paul Renner. While the original was known for its idiosyncratic weights and narrow proportions, Monotype Studio reimagined the family for the digital age, creating a vast system that spans multiple weights and widths. The Text Italic variant specifically balances the bold, geometric DNA of the original with the fluidity required for extended reading in digital and print media.

This typeface features a generous x-height and distinct, legible letterforms that excel in space-constrained environments. Unlike the Display versions which focus on personality and impact, Neue Plak Text is optimized for readability. Its clean, industrial aesthetic provides a bridge between historical modernism and contemporary corporate communication, making it a versatile tool for high-end editorial work and branding.
