Neue Plak Text Semi Bold Italic

Neue Plak is a modern expansion of Paul Renner’s original Plak typeface, which was first released in 1928 as a wood-type display face. In 2018, Monotype designers Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari revisited the design, evolving it from a niche display family into a massive 60-style system. The Text subfamily specifically addresses the need for legibility at smaller sizes, providing a more balanced and open alternative to the compressed forms of the display weights.

The Semi Bold Italic variant offers a robust, authoritative slant that is ideal for creating emphasis within sophisticated typographic hierarchies. With its roots in the German Grotesque tradition and its contemporary refinement, it bridges the gap between the geometric strictness of Futura and the functional neutrality of Helvetica, making it a staple for high-end corporate and editorial environments.
