New York Times Regular

The New York Times typeface, specifically the modern digital iterations like NYT Cheltenham and NYT Imperial, was meticulously crafted to ensure legibility and authority for one of the world's most prestigious publications. Developed by renowned typographers such as Matthew Carter, these fonts were designed to handle the rigorous demands of daily newspaper printing while maintaining a classic, sophisticated aesthetic that aligns with the paper’s "Gray Lady" reputation.

Transitioning from traditional ink-on-paper to high-resolution digital screens, the New York Times font family remains a benchmark for editorial design. It balances narrow proportions with generous x-heights, making it perfect for dense text blocks and striking headlines. This font family has become synonymous with credible journalism and continues to influence modern serif design across the global publishing industry.
