OFL Sorts Mill Goudy TT Italic

OFL Sorts Mill Goudy TT Italic is a refined revival of the classic Goudy Old Style, originally designed by the prolific American type designer Frederic W. Goudy in 1915. This specific digital version was meticulously crafted by Barry Schwartz as part of the Sorts Mill project, aiming to provide a high-quality, open-source interpretation of one of the world’s most beloved serif typefaces. The italic weight is particularly notable for its calligraphic influence and rhythmic flow, capturing the warmth and humanistic touch characteristic of early 20th-century typography.

As an Open Font License (OFL) release, this typeface has become a favorite among designers who seek a sophisticated, scholarly aesthetic for modern digital and print environments. The design features distinctive traits such as the diamond-shaped tittles and a subtle, upward-slanting crossbar on the lowercase 'e', which contribute to its unique personality. It is highly regarded for its exceptional legibility in body text, making it a reliable choice for complex typesetting where elegance and clarity are paramount.
