Old Standard Bold

Old Standard Bold is a sophisticated revival of a classicist (Modern) serif typeface that was widely used in various editions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Developed by Alexey Kryukov, this font project recreates the specific aesthetic of the 'Old Standard' type family, which was the most common typeface for scientific and social publications in pre-revolutionary Russia and Eastern Europe. Its design is rooted in the Bodoni-Didot tradition, featuring high stroke contrast and vertical stress that exudes academic authority and historical elegance.

The bold weight of this family was meticulously designed to provide strong emphasis and hierarchy within complex layouts without compromising the delicate geometry of its historical predecessors. It is particularly noted for its extensive language support, including Cyrillic and Greek scripts, making it a favorite among linguists and historians. Today, Old Standard Bold is a premier choice for designers who want to bridge the gap between vintage typesetting and modern digital clarity, offering a sense of timeless intellectualism to any project.
