Old Standard TT Italic is a high-quality digital revival of a specific style of Modern (classicist) serif typefaces, which were highly popular in various publications during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The font specifically recreates the aesthetic found in scientific, linguistic, and historical editions, providing a sophisticated and authoritative feel that is deeply rooted in Classical typography traditions.
The italic variant maintains the high-contrast characteristics of the Roman weight but adds a graceful, rhythmic slant that reflects the formal elegance of early modern printing. Distributed under the SIL Open Font License, this typeface has become a favorite among typographers who require a scholarly and traditional aesthetic for digital environments while ensuring full compatibility with multi-language requirements, including Cyrillic and Greek scripts.
