P22 Mackinac Medium Italic

P22 Mackinac Medium Italic is a refined and versatile serif typeface that belongs to the broader Mackinac family, designed by Michael J. Redman. This typeface bridges the gap between historical 15th-century Venetian Old Style forms and modern humanist sensibilities. The Medium Italic weight is particularly noted for its rhythmic flow and graceful slant, which provides a sophisticated organic feel that is less rigid than traditional transitional serifs. Its soft corners and balanced proportions make it an excellent choice for designers looking to convey warmth and reliability.

The P22 Mackinac collection was developed to offer a comprehensive range of weights suitable for diverse typographic needs, from delicate body text to robust display headers. Since its release through the P22 Type Foundry, it has become a staple for editorial design and high-end branding projects. Its timeless aesthetic ensures that it remains functional across both print and digital platforms, maintaining high legibility even at smaller point sizes while revealing intricate, hand-crafted details when used in larger formats.
