Pompei Std Bold

Pompei Std Bold is a distinguished humanist sans-serif typeface designed by the celebrated typographer Friedrich Poppl. The font draws its primary inspiration from the classical proportions and lapidary forms found in Roman inscriptions within the ruins of Pompeii. Unlike clinical geometric sans-serifs, Pompei incorporates subtle calligraphic nuances and flared terminals that give it a warm, organic character while maintaining the structural integrity of a modern typeface.

Originally released through the Berthold Type Foundry, Pompei Std Bold stands out for its exceptional legibility and authoritative presence. The bold weight is particularly effective for display purposes, offering a harmonious blend of historical gravitas and contemporary clean lines. It remains a popular choice for designers who seek a typeface that conveys sophistication and timelessness without the rigid formality of traditional serifs.
