The Premier League with Lion Number Regular font is a legendary typeface that defined the visual culture of English football from 1997 through 2007. It was the first time the league standardized its lettering and numbering system across all competing clubs to create a unified brand identity. The defining feature of this font is the integration of the official Premier League Lion logo at the base of each numeral, which served both as a branding element and an anti-counterfeit measure for official merchandise.

Functionally, the typeface is a heavy-weight, athletic slab serif designed for maximum visibility on the field and during high-definition television broadcasts. Its bold strokes and clear geometry ensured that player names and numbers were easily identifiable for officials and fans alike. While the league has moved on to more modern, streamlined designs in subsequent years, the Lion Number remains a nostalgic favorite for graphic designers working on retro sports projects and football memorabilia.
