Red Rose was designed by Jani Paavola and takes its primary inspiration from the distinctive lettering of the Glasgow School of Art and the early 20th-century Art Nouveau movement. Specifically influenced by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the typeface seeks to modernize the romantic, geometric aesthetic often referred to as the 'Glasgow Style.' It functions as a digital bridge to a specific era of Scottish design history, capturing the poetic and architectural sensibilities of the period while ensuring compatibility with modern screen resolutions and printing standards.

In its Bold weight, Red Rose exhibits a striking visual presence characterized by a significantly high x-height and narrow, condensed proportions.
