Sagona Extra Light was created by German type designer Rene Bieder in 2016. It is a contemporary slab serif font family that draws inspiration from the classic Clarendon models but brings them into a modern context with refined curves and balanced proportions. The Extra Light weight specifically offers an elegant, airy alternative to the more robust bold weights, making it ideal for high-end editorial work.
The font is characterized by its high contrast, large x-height, and distinctive terminal shapes. Its versatility allows it to function well in both large-scale headlines and smaller text blocks, though the Extra Light variant shines brightest in display settings. Its clean construction and professional finish make it a favorite for corporate branding and sophisticated print layouts.
