Sagona Thin Italic is a sophisticated contemporary slab serif typeface designed by René Bieder. It represents a modern evolution of the classic Clarendon styles, characterized by a heavy horizontal emphasis and strong, blocky serifs. The Thin Italic weight specifically offers a unique blend of delicate line work and sharp angles, providing a high-contrast aesthetic that is both graceful and commanding in a typographic layout.
Released as part of a versatile 18-weight family, Sagona was crafted to bridge the gap between 19th-century wood-type heritage and 21st-century digital precision. It features open counters and optimized spacing, ensuring that even in its thinnest and most slanted forms, the font maintains excellent legibility. It has become a favorite among designers for projects that require a touch of vintage charm mixed with a clean, high-end editorial feel.
