Sextan Roman

Sextan Roman is a distinctive typeface designed by Radek Sidun and released through the Briefcase Type Foundry. The font takes its name and inspiration from the sextant—a navigational instrument—reflecting a design philosophy rooted in mathematical precision and technical construction. It skillfully blends the industrial aesthetic of stencil-based modularity with the elegant, historical proportions of classical Roman letterforms, resulting in a typeface that feels both archaic and cutting-edge.

The development of Sextan Roman focused on creating a high-contrast serif with sharp, geometric terminals and refined structural details. While it excels in display environments where its unique construction can be fully appreciated, its clear silhouettes ensure readability across various media. It has become a popular choice for designers looking for a typeface that communicates a sense of engineering, navigation, and sophisticated craftsmanship.
