Söhne Breit Extraleicht Regular

Söhne Breit Extraleicht Regular is a masterfully crafted wide sans-serif typeface designed by Kris Sowersby of the Klim Type Foundry. As part of the Söhne family, it serves as a contemporary interpretation of the classic Akzidenz-Grotesk, emphasizing horizontal expansion and airy proportions. The Extraleicht weight specifically offers a delicate, hairline-thin elegance that allows for high legibility even at its widest stance, making it a favorite for minimalist and high-end design projects.

This typeface is built on the principle of 'the memory of Akzidenz-Grotesk,' capturing the soul of early grotesque fonts while refining them for modern digital use. The Breit (wide) variant is particularly effective in editorial layouts and architectural branding, where the use of space is as important as the letterforms themselves. It provides a structural, rhythmic quality to text that feels both historically grounded and forward-thinking.
